How Classes Work at Hirasaka Academy
Classes at Hirasaka Academy are the primary stat-growth engine outside combat. Each session awards Wisdom, Virtue, and Valor points depending on performance and preparation. These three spiritual attributes feed directly into Soul Device enhancement trees, unlocking new attacks, mobility options, and passive bonuses. Skipping classes or attending without preparation creates a measurable power gap by mid-chapter labyrinth floors.
The Class Preparation screen appears before every session. Here you assemble a hand of Action Cards and Support Cards, spending Cost Points (CP) to activate their effects. Class results scale with Focus accumulated from Action Cards plus any Support Card modifiers. Think of preparation as a deck-building puzzle constrained by daily CP pools and card cooldowns.
Action Cards Explained
Action Cards increase Focus during class, multiplying the Wisdom, Virtue, and Valor points earned. Each card consumes CP proportional to its Focus value — high-Focus cards cost more but dramatically outperform low-tier options when stacked intelligently. You may play multiple Action Cards until your CP budget empties, so sequencing matters less than total Focus achieved.
Different Action Cards bias toward specific attributes. Wisdom-biased cards suit characters investing in Spirit Bullet and tactical abilities. Virtue-biased cards benefit support-oriented builds and Sacred Tree blessing efficiency. Valor-biased cards align with melee-focused Soul Device paths favored by frontline fighters like Rei. Match card selection to your current enhancement priorities rather than blindly maximizing total Focus.
Support Cards and Cooldowns
Support Cards grant special effects beyond raw Focus — extra Action Card draws, bonus CP refunds, attribute-specific jackpots, or reduced cooldown on facility interactions. Many Support Cards also cost CP, forcing tradeoffs against Action Card Focus stacking. The early purchase bonus Support Card: LinoN enhances overall class effectiveness and serves as an excellent default inclusion for new players.
After use, Support Cards enter recovery cooldown until you interact with their associated character on campus. Suzume Sawatari's card, for example, adds another Action Card to your hand during preparation but requires visiting Suzume before reuse. Plan weekly schedules around Support Card availability rather than exhausting them on optional electives with low base payouts.
CP Budget Strategy
Your total CP pool grows slowly through story progression and facility contribution ranks. Early game CP is tight — one high-Focus Action Card plus one Support Card often exhausts the budget. Mid-game expansion enables dual high-Focus Action Cards with a conditional Support Card for spike sessions before major Soul Device purchases.

Stack high-value classes on days when your best Support Cards are off cooldown and Facility Requests align with labyrinth objectives you already planned to complete. Instructor-led core subjects typically offer higher base payouts than optional seminars — consult the academy schedule each in-game week and prioritize instructor days for card-heavy preparation.
Bonding events can refresh Support Card relationships indirectly by advancing character story flags. Completing Tankasho scenes with classmates who grant Support Cards often coincides with reduced cooldowns or upgraded card tiers. Integrate social exploration into your class loop instead of treating academy and Kyoto as separate activities.
